Powerful images

I am not offended by these but I am appalled. I wish the worlds media had the guts to print these so people could see the truth behind the 'self defence' smokescreen.-

Racism

I think that these pictures are biased and misinformative. The full picture is not shown here, and anyone can stirr up violence and ignorance by using PICTURES of violence. It is a stupid and cheap technique.

Half of my friend's Anat's face was blown off, and she is deaf for life, from a suicide bomber in Haifa. Another friend of mine visiting from France died at a cafe bombing in Jerusalem. I would never denigrate these photos of war, which are horrible, but remember that this is a war. BOTH sides are sustaining casualties and neither side is innocent. The situation here is horrible and one-sided photos like these are not helping, they are only inciting more hatred. Alongside these horrific photos should be other photos of bombed-out teenage discos, lynched "collaborators" and the thousand or so "critically wounded" who never get mentioned, like my friend Anat.

Well ... Human power

AAAHHH This War!
Well... It's not so simple like how the media show it to all of us. They certainly are loaded and graphic images. They don't surprise me... in fact I know (and I hope you do to) that they don't show the worst of it- the terrified families inside their houses being bulldozed by the IDF; we don't see the IDF snipers lining up their sites on innocents as they walk or run, the bodies falling with blood spurting as bullet smashes bone and flesh, 'to teach them a lesson'; we don't see the behind the scene handshakes, MOSSAD with CIA men, Sharon with Rockafella; we don't see the details of Bush's Energy Plan, world oil prices, why Sharon said 'We control America' back in October; All this talk of 'terrorists'. How terrified would you be as a child or a little old lady when tanks are shelling your neighbourhood, helicopters are firing rockets at you, and snipers are picking off your neighbours? Believe it or not these people actually LIVE there. Whether their ancestors did a hundred years ago is largely irrelevent. This is now.
Sharon and his right-wing cronies are going to cause the destruction of a lot of things and the death of a lot of Isrealis. They've completely lost touch with their own humanity.
And they know that they can get away with what they are doing, cos the Bush Family and the Oil Cowboys, the Bankers and the Criminal Intelligence Agency, and all the others running the economic-financial show(down) let them. They are dehumanised people. I know I would be very confused if I was an Isreali, maybe that's why so many of them escape to India - they all have to go into the army, and usually when they've done their year, they go abit wild. And the ones i've got to know are lovely ( sorry about all this 'us' and 'them' ) really great people. The Isreali conditioning is very strong, and this I believe is why so many are behind the current atrocity, they see ther identity at stake, and if you are anyway an ordinary media gobbler, as an Isreali, you might just believe that violence is the only way to protect people. Quite an irony really isn't it? Shalom to them/you/me
Enjoy the ride, cos it's endless, and let you heart choose.

Actually, Jonathan, we do see a lot of pictures of exploded buses and scenes of suicide-bomb carnage, people running around screaming with blood pouring down their faces.

They are some of the most potent images in this bloody conflict, and one of the main tools with which the US and Israeli population are conditioned into believing Israel is a nation under siege, protecting itself from mindless fanatics raining down murder from all sides.

The pictures shown above merely demonstrate that Palestinians are suffering just as much, and that in this case it is not as a result of foolish suicide bombers but at the behest of a democratic nation which has lost all sense of perspective in this terrible war.

The armored Vehicle

FYI, the vehicle that is in the last picture is actually an Ambulance.

Magen David Adom is the Israeli ambulance organisation. They treat Israeli's and Palestinian's alike.

Nice example of how photo's can be misleading.

This undoubtedly is a war, one being waged by Sharon and his cronies. As Bill Hicks said about the Gulf 'War', "A war is when two sides are fighting- so you see, this wasn't really a war." These pictures, and ones that will follow will show this has been a massacre of innocent people: just as the victims of the suicide bombers are innocent, but vengeneance will not stop suicide bombers.
We must also challenge the mainstream media account of events that tries to convince us that there are two evenly matched armies fighting each other here: how many helicopters, tanks etc have the Palestianians been given by the US, Brits etc? How many times have you seen an Israeli soldier take on a tank witha sling shot? There is a picture on the Palestiian indy media site that shows an Islraeli soldier wearing a flack jacket with 'born to kill' written on it: this seems a succinct summing up of Sharons policy in the occupied territories. When will he join Millosevic at the Hague?

just a short comment from a future revolutionary

29.01.2004 17:53

hope i can make a relevant comment, being an essentially 'out of touch' Brit!
looking at the pictures i do have to agree with an earlier comment that they do only show one side of the violence, but i believe they are indeed pictures that need to be seen. television viewers, newspaper readers and radio listeners here in the uk are told daily of the devastation caused by the latest suicide bombing in israel. we are, however, shown nothing of palestinian victims killed and tortured by israels (american!) armed forces....
although we are told briefly at the end of a 5 minute bus bomb report that, 'israel defence forces have retaliated 'accordingly''!!
apparently, israel has 'the right to defend itself'!
i will be linking these pictures to web forums i visit and to friends.
