Oppose the NF in Bermondsey!

Please forward and publicise this call:

On Saturday 20th April (Hitler's Birthday) the fascist National Front are planning on marching through Bermondsey. This is to publicise the new Bermondsey branch of the NF and to "celebrate" St George's Day (23rd). This is a call out to mobilise all anarchist and anti-fascist grassroots groups to join us and mobilise against the NF to prevent them from marching.

We do not intend to merely stand at the roadside with "lollipops" chanting slogans and selling papers, we believe in using direct action to prevent the NF from marching through Bermondsey and intend to enforce a policy of "no platform". We have been inspired by the way in which anti-fascists in Europe have prevented fascist marches and intend to use their tactics. We want to make our presence felt and we want to show people that there is a way of fighting fascism.

Whilst we believe that the only effective way of fighting fascism is to build a revolutionary alternative, we cannot stand by and do nothing when they try to march. The NF intends to "control the streets" of Bermondsey and to stop them from doing this they must be opposed physically. A large mobilisation of militant anti-fascists would deeply embarrass the NF in the run up to the May elections and would alienate them from the local community.

We will be meeting at South Bermondsey station from 11am on Saturday 20th April. Please bring your friends, red and black flags and anything else you think might be useful.

We are not a party-political organisation or a front group; we are a collective of militant anti-fascists.

You're wrong to say NF want to 'control the streets of Bermondsey'I'd imagine the idea is to show there is an alternative to the compulsory Black crime and Asylum swamping scenario on offer from every other political party. The Left can't imagine anyone would think unlike them and are horrified 'working class' might find solace in the NF's position

Surely you're not saying lockemup David Blunkett with his expanded discriminatory stop and search legislation, mandatory sentencing, jail construction and commitment to locking more people up is encouragin "black crime"?

Surely you're not trying to suggest that Labour and Tory plans to further reduce the statistically insignificant flow of refugees to the UK (compared to evcery other European country, not to mention other ones around the world) is an "asylum swamping"?

Driving the NF off the streets of Bermondsey will not break their support in the area it will only get them more publicity in the press and more support from local who sympathise who share their views on race.

The only effective way to fight fascism is to present the people who live in Bermondsy with an alternative to the NF's politics and to capitalism. That alternative is Marxist Communism. Only communism offers the real alternative to capitalism and will solve local people's problems. Therefore we need to build mass support for communist ideas in working class areas! That means rejecting the ANL's keeping on about how bad the NF are and putting forward the communist alternative!

Steelgate this is a wind up right? The reason for the far rights support is the lack of alternatives offered by the left wing. The politics of the communist party mean absolute nothing to the working class and if you want to win their support start offering real alternatives and not some marxist bollocks what the working class generally laugh at now!

For my money there's nothing to choose between the revolting BNP and the nauseating INLA. Both are like very stupid children.

Dave I don't see you discrediting the IRA - after the IRA could be branded child killers - take Warrington for example.

Personally I disagree with much of the Republican Movement politics just as I diagree with most of the Loyalist Movement politics but if they're legitimate targets whats the problem?

The BNP encourages hate against everyone who diagrees with them so even if I diagree with the extremists in Ulster I would never brand them in the same breath as I would the BNP.

I have sat down and talked to people from the Loyalist and Republican movements and if we've disagreed we could sit down at the bar and carry on drinking together. I tried talking to the BNP on at least two occassions and got nothing but hatred them. They don't want to know.

As far as I am concerned I will happily fight/stand along side some one whatever their politics as long as they are Anti Fascist.

So if Christine's posting was about support for Smash The BNP thats great and if so could she call 07929927825.
