As people may know the Radical Dairy Social Centre
had an unexpected visit by cops from the Forward
intelligence team (FIT).Their pretence was that they
had broken down outside the Radical Dairy and were
waiting for a repair vechicle to arrive!!They then
proceeded to take peoples pictures arriving for
a benefit event. A call was then put out to people
who have left contact details and over 60 people
arrived to support the centre and to deter any
possible police action against it. The local community
on Kynaston Road and surrounding streets were obviously
more supportive of the Social Centre, which has been
offering a wide range of political, social and cultural
activities for free for over 3 months, than the intimidation
of the police.

A leaflet was produced by the Radical Dairy to inform the
neighbours about what was really going on. here is the
leaflet text produced:

communique no.3

"You may have noticed some disruptive and threatening
people hanging around the area over 5–6th April. They have
been photographing members of the public and harassing
visitors to the Radical Dairy Social Centre at 47 Kynaston
Road.


As you may know, we have been open for three months as a
social space, providing the community with free yoga
lessons, english language teaching, singing classes and
massage treatment. We have also been running DJ workshops
with local children and having regular cafés offering good-
value healthy food. Those of you who have visited the
premises know that there is nothing criminal going on here.
If there was, the cops would have come to us directly.

We believe they are here this weekend because we are
hosting a benefit café for a voluntary organisation that
provides help and advice to people who have been wronged by
the police. This group is constantly followed and harassed
by the police for the obvious reasons.

We appreciate that this surveillance and harassment may be
of concern to you. We too are amazed that so much time and
money is being wasted in Kynaston Road when so much violent
crime is being committed on the streets of Hackney.

We hope that your support for the project will not falter
and that you will continue to use the facilities. We hope
that the cops will eventually get bored or run out of
film."

This leaflet was handed out to over a hundred houses, the
police tried to intervene and explain there side of the
story. This didn't wash with one of the local residents who
was a trade unionists and had attended the last two
Maydays! At this point the police saw that they were
creating some antagonisms against them so decided to leave
the scene in a hurry! Never estimate the power of a
community threatened by police intimidation, especially
stoke newington!!.

No doubt this is the first incident of many as the cops and
media prepare there criminalisation of political dissident
in the run to Mayday. The battleground of this campaign
seems to be Radical Dairy Social Centre, only your support
will stop their repressions.
