Association of Palestinian Communities, appeal for solidarity

Dafydd Roberts | 03.04.2002 23:33

The APC calls on trade unions, community groups and others to show solidarity with the Palestinian cause by demonsrating in Whitehall on Thursday 4th April, the day when Blair flies to the US to meet Bush.

Blair Must Demand Immediate Israeli Withdrawal From Occupied Territories!

The Association of Palestinian Communities is calling for a demonstration opposite Downing Street on Thursday 4th April at 4.oo p.m., calling for Tony Blair to demand that Israel ends its brutal military occupation of Palestine territories, now in its 35th year.

Tony Blair will be flying out to Washington on Thursday 4th April, for a meeting with George Bush. The message that he needs to have clearly ringing in his ears is that the many Palestinian supporters in Britain will not stand by while Sharon continues his massacres of Palestinians.

With the situation in the Middle East already spiralling out of control, the only way violence will end is when Israel observes international law and abides by UN resolutions calling for an end to the Occupation. Although Bush has given Sharon the green light to wreak havoc and try to suppress the Palestinian uprising with brute force, this has only resulted in escalating the bloodshed. He has besieged the Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat and now proposes his exile. [...]

By staying silent and inactive, Blair is supporting Israeli state terrorism, contrary to all his stated support for peace and justice in the world.

We appeal to trade unions, community groups and political organisations to take action in solidarity with the Palestinians, to come out and send the message loud and clear - STOP ISRAEL’S MURDEROUS CAMPAIGN AGAINST THE PALESTINIANS!

Venue: Whitehall, opposite Downing Street
