OPEN LETTER FROM THE MAY DAY NETWORKING GROUP.


On May Day we traditionally celebrate and commemorate workers and community struggles against oppression past and present.

Every day we fight against privatisation, ever increasing costs of living, authority, racism, sexism, the demoralisation of work, and, ultimately the system which exploits our labour and destroys our communities ... Capitalism.

Over the last four years attempts have been made by those involved in the anti-capitalist movement to reclaim May Day as a celebration of our collective struggles inside and outside the workplace. This year in London on Wednesday 1st May there will be an open and defiant celebration of our vision of a world post-capitalism based on solidarity, autonomy, co-operation, mutual aid, tolerance and respect.

We will also be celebrating with a "Festival of Alternatives"; 10 days of community-based events including practical workshops, film showings, radical workers history tours and music. The Festival is part of an ongoing goal of building long-term, sustainable opposition and alternatives to capitalism.
