Palestinian Police slaughter 2 international observers

Ozaslan told Israel Radio that he clearly saw the attacker. He said that the man was armed in fatigues of the PA's security forces and was carrying an AK-47 assault rifle.

"We shouted that we are observers, members of TIPH," he said. "But he did not hear us and continued to shoot."

The shooting near Hebron occured at approximately 8:30 P.M., west of the Halhul bridge. Three members of the Temporary International Presence in Hebron (TIPH) were riding westward on the Trans-Judea highway when they came under fire from short range.

The two dead are Major Cengiz Soytunc, of Turkey, and Katrine Brooks, a Swiss citizen. The injured man is Captain Huseyin Ozaslan, also Turkish. The injured observer suffered light wounds and was evacuated to Shaarei Tzedek Hospital in Jerusalem.

He added that the gunman "emptied a whole magazine" into their car.

IDF sources said that the shooting occured from a southerly direction, inside territory controlled by the Palestinian Authority.

Shortly after the incident, shots were fired against an IDF position nearby. No soldiers were injured and the force returned fire.

Palestinian security sources tried to argue in talks with reporters yesterday that IDF soldiers killed the two observers. However, their claims were thwarted by the surviving observer's testimony.

Some kind of conspiracy

I don't know the politics behind the paper where that story came from, but there are other versions as well.

A Norwegian liberal has a story claiming that the shots came from Israeli territory, a s tory that is backed up by a lot of paramedics that were close to the incident.

How hard can it be to get some PA fatigues and an AK?

For those of you who read Norwegian see the link below.

I dont believe there is any conspiracy, a cop is a cop no matter what 'side' he/she is on. FREEDOM FOR PALESTINE, BUT REAL FREEDOM, NOT AN ARAFAT/RELIGIOUS DICTATORSHIP!!

well for sure the Palestinian authority Police arent exactly friendly and from what I can gather most palestinian youth are afraid of them and their brutality:

But I would say it was almost certainly Israeli fire that killed those people:

and The fact that one of them was a Turkish Major brings no tears to my eyes, the surviving witness is also a Turk army man, remember Turkey and Israel are allies ( the two major recipients of american milatary aid) so you dont need to venture down the conspiracy theory path to lay the blame at Sharon's door:

remember what happened in Italy:

elements of the pro state right asasinated a leading light of rightwing neo liberal economics head Biagi to discredit the left and instill fear in the people:

looks like a similar vibe at work here????

millions and millions of dead cops
