paddick protest - how do we get it together?

boomclick + nessuno | 18.03.2002 18:09

i've never really done any political organizing (tho i did go to the poll tax/CJB/rts demos)... (boomclick)

there are two articles here. both are posted on urban75

how do we go about organizing a protest in support of brian paddick? it would have to be totally non-violent & non-agressive to avoid pandering to the tabloid scum that have created this issue. (you can see the headlines now can't you 'paddick's drug-crazed anarchist pals wreak havoc in brixton'

i think friday afternoon would mean most people could there after work, and it would provide a nice lead in to an unnofficial U75 drinkup in the albert afters...

some 'Keep Paddick' placards and the odd chant of 'brian, brian, brian, in, in, in' shouldn't be beyond the ken of u75?...

does it require anything other than saying outside brixton police station. 6pm. friday. ?

p'raps someone could organize a petition?...

anyone got any thoughts?

Daily Mail paid £100,000 to lover for paddick story
Daily Mail paid £100,000 for the story. it was on the radio.

I wish i could swear here.....there should be laws about Checkbook Journalism....The Daily Mail has set a new low in depravity in tabloid trash and maximising newspaper sales!

perhaps the movement should demonstrate outside the Daily Mail offices and speak to as many other news media organisations and newspapers as fast as possible. personally, i think a great pile of Daily Mail newspapers should be set fire and burnt in front
of their offices.

A note for the the Daily Mail Reader and any other corporate media journalists. what the Daily Mail has done here is precisely why we hate all corporate media journalists.

I also want to state that any tabloid Journalist that comes near any activist should be beaten up and their camera smashed. the reason i say this... is that every tabloid Journalist should now realise that we are declaring war on them because of what the Daily Mail has done. don't blame us, blame the newspaper.

on the issue of policing Brixton, perhaps the Daily Mail should announce their own candidate for the paddicks position and when there is a riot in brixton, we will know who to blame...

the F*****G Daily Mail.....

they should also be blamed for disrupting and destroying a policing policy that people were beginning to listen to after years of mental and physical combat with cops in brixton. although i hate most cops, this guy has my support.

Finally, Dear Met police. does the Daily Mail influence your operation decisions and public relations? I suggest that the Met takes action against the newspaper as an employer, representing an employee. not the other way around. paddick has done nothing wrong and the only reason this paper is doing this is to make money...not 'finding the truth...'

I hope paddick takes action against the Daily Mail. it would be the media trial of the Century!

mr paddick...you have nothing to lose except your chains. ...the best way you can damage the Daily Mail is in legal fees and maximium embassment.....and use the media when you are ready. it would be like a atom bomb on this sick newspaper.

wander what the PCC will do.......

meanwhile read my situation, you might agree with me by understanding you have nothing to lose now, the Daily Mail has everything to lose.

Lastly, i think it is a good idea to have a demo in support of paddick but it must involve ALL the residents of Lambeth and not just the movement. I must admit i problem supporting a police officer after so many policemen tried to kill me in Genoa but.....

tricky question, innit ?

i have some commonplace sympathy with paddick but first HE must decide whether he wants to be a policeman OR a libertarian campaigner. the conclusion is obvious...the two cannot go together

no easy answers

choice already made

18.03.2002 22:50

In a sense the choice is already made by and for him. Firstly the attractive anarchy affair, and now he has admitted to both storing, and allowing the smoking of cannabis in his home - both offenses. He faces disciplinary charges and suspension. Even if he wriggles out of this one, and although we may not like the organisation that he represents, unless we believe in neverending struggle, with no hope of reconciliation, them it is important to support Paddick, for this may represent a ripple that could spread throughout policing and its policies and practice. It's a world turned upside down deliberately since 9-11 and we should support all positive outcomes, especially those that bring the encroaching and established order into disrepute, and especially those that the corrupt drunken and lying hackery of the mainstream media seek to turn into a reactionary cause.. Support Brian - he's made very brave moves for a copper.

Brian for Chief counstable of the PSNI

19.03.2002 21:51

Brian Paddick is brilliant, and living proof that the system can be subverted from the inside, more power to Brian for this achievement'if you are policeman you dont have to arrest me, you can work for freedom in your place of employment'zounds. Brian Paddick deserves a medal for his struggle and attempt to reform and modernise the Metropolitan police. I wish Brian Paddick were chief counstable of the PSNI, im sure he'd do a better job, than the stuck up, stuffy, sneaky, twofaced more than my jobsworth dinosaurs, that have plagued the PSNI/RUC and NI office.
