Police Reject 'Blunkettization'

Thought it should get a mention at least, if just for overseas readers. There are some very odd things happening with the forces of law and order.

As we know, a few days ago, Commander Brian Paddick hit the headlines with his admiration of anarchist ideals and a warning that police could bite their capitalist masters too.

Yesterday, the police federation rejected moves by the Home Secretary to modernize (ie privatize) the force, by about 90%. This would entail squads of vigilantes and obviously securicops roaming the streets, perhaps posing a bigger menace than any squalid mugger. One police spokesman even mentioned about campaigning for the right to strike.

Today, saturday, it was announced that Group 4, private prison securicops and in charge of Yarls Wood, Bedfordshire, are to prosecute the police for the refugee breakout. This makes no sense whatever, and looks like anatagonism on their part, perhaps for the plods refusal of the Blunkett proposals . What kind of obscure 'great game' can this be part of ?
