There were no colours in the '50s!

AMAZING BUT TRUE!

It has been discovered by SCIENTISTS that before the 1960s, there weren't actually any colours!

It is a common myth these days that before the 1960s televisions could only protray a black and white image of the world. This is not so! SCIENTISTS have found that before the 1960s, televisions were perfectly capable of protraying colour and that the only reason they didn't was because there was no colour to portray.

Indeed, it's actually true that before the 1960s the entire world was black and white.

Now there may indeed be references in literature which predates what we think of as the age of colour television... references to words such as green, and, for example, specific references to grass being green.

But, SCIENTISTS have found that the explanation for this is that the word "green" just used to mean the specific shade of grey which was the colour of grass at the time.

Likewise, the sky was another shade of grey, a shade that used to be called "blue".

It has been found that colours were secretly invented during the 1950s and came into use during the 1960s.

Hasn't anyone read 1984?

I have, and this little posting reminded me of the handiwork of the Ministry of Truth. I don't know the author's intentions, but for me this article is a very dark parody of the way history is being re-written, more today than in Orwell's time. It's funny and thought provoking. Pity it provoked nothing but pedantry and abuse from those above.
