kentucky fried culture?

kon4m | 19.02.2002 03:48

the latest kentucky fried chicken tv advert is pure cultural imperialism for the masses!

has anybody catched the latest kentucky fried chicken tv advert? for who hasn't here's the deal: some guy with a really heavy indian accent introduces the latest kfc "invention": a whole set of indian-style junk food selection. the catch frase is something like "come to kfc for a real taste of india". you gotta see it to realize how vulgar the whole thing is. and indian food is just the latest (we've already seen mexican etc.). US corporations have planned it all out: conquer every street corner in the world, throw outta business any independent seller of REAL local food and then absorb the culturage heritage they have just destroyed to reduce it to toxic food for the masses. is this the globalization they have in mind: a couple of fast food sellers that can deliver "original" food from all over the world? the brainwashing adverts, where it seems as if we are embracing these cultures, completes the trick. let's fight corporate propaganda with the best weapon in our hand: the truth!

Not to be anal or anything, but isn't that a Burger King commercial.

(Not that it matters, it's the same thing...)

I'm sure its the golden arches providing the culture 'redesign' isn't it.

Anyway on the subject of KFC advertising their latest angle, as used on their website uses a famous TV face:-

"Chicken Fanatic" Jason Alexander (from Seinfeld) is on a mission to convert people to Original Recipe® Chicken and away from bland, processed, mundane fast food."

They seem to be satirising themselves i feel

how little it penetrates us

I think its wonderful that both people who commented on the article thought it was from a different 'restaurant' chain as the other and the original author. Those of us who step outside the nasty, corporate society we've been given just get so disgusted by the ad that we have to concentrate to realise who is behind it. We are just the first. If adverts are slipping out of our minds like water does off a ducks back, then the advertisers will soon have to come up with some new way of actually reaching people. Unfortunately for them the have been trying to wipe out originality for so long they wont be able to come up with something new and all their corporate mind control will be lost.
