Homeland Security on its way to UK

Heard part of a radio debate on plans for a Homeland Security setup here, with TA troops to enforce it. Can this really be true? Does anyone care?

Caught part of an interesting debate on Radio 5 Live, Simon Mayo today. A guest (I missed hearing who he was) was saying that a version of the US's new Homeland Security police state setup is on its way here. He said that it wouldn't be officially introduced, but he expected that in due course the phrase 'Homeland Security' would be common parlance here. Apparently the Territorial Army is being expanded to enforce it. Quite a heavy subject for a lunchtime discussion. One guest commented that on the one hand having all these troops to look after us would be quite comforting, but on the other hand it's "a little bit scary". On the whole they seemed fairly unruffled about the Orwellian scenario that's in the process of being unleashed. Does anyone know more about these grim plans?
