Straw Dogs

and Extremely worried | 14.02.2002 16:43

Since leading the successful campaign to free Gen Pinochet from comfy house arrest, and chaining a dying 70 year old common criminal Ronnie Biggs to his bed, Jack Straw has become a man of mystery

the mystery being what it is he does nowadays .
Yesterday, it became little clearer when he called for a debate on the subject of 'privatising' the armed forces, literally using mercenaries to further British foreign policy. Having heard this report first on the radio early morning, I thought I'd dreamed it until Newsnight followed up the matter, adding its usual BBC 'balance' by stating the case against (bizarrely this was via Machiavelli) and for, stated by one of these dogs- of- death (or soldier- of-fortune as they prefer).

As with the matter of 'Garbagegate' (see below), I feel these odd developments should be covered here, for they give indications of how badly the corpus politicus is now drifting.
