Despite his earlier promises ol' Blunkett looks set to introduce a national ID card, because it is what we need REALLY to protect from those terrorists this war was supposed to have put out of business...

UK ID Card Proposals Return Reversing a previous promise not to introduce a national ID card, Home Secretary David Blunkett announced on Febraury 5 that it was going to issue a consultation paper on an "entitlement card" in the summer. The card would include fingerprints, digital photo, name, address and an ID number. At least initially, people would not be required to carry to card but the card would be required for employment and all dealings with the government including health services and libraries. The cost is estimated to be upto £1 billion.

Global ID is the introduction of the human bar-code, the mark without which you can neither buy nor sell. Are you going to submit to being tagged like a commodity, in order to have the right to the essentials for life? Who has the ultimate right over your body? YOU - not some government agency!

A really good booklet has been produced by liberty
'ID cards - arguments against' - including contributions from all sorts of dodgy bleeding heart liberals who think ID cards are crap - people such as Steve Norris (ex tory transprt minister) & Mike O'Brian (Ex new Labour Home office minister) & loads of others - really useful arguments for all those
"if you've got nothing to hide" tory bigots
