article from Bristol Evening Post about anarchist group PVC - People's Vengeance Club

Published in the evening post Tuesday 30th January:

An anarchist group in Bristol has launched a vicious campaign of vandalism and intimidation against key figures in the city. The People;s Vengeance Club has already picked on the chairman of a city publishing company - smearing the windows of his home with pig excrement and delivering a dead rat through his letterbox.

It has also dumped waste in the garden of Councillor Celia Lukins.

The group has been boasting of its exploits on websites and in an alternative newsletter.

In one statement, it said: "Those who are controlling us in this vile society have names and addresses. They and their property will no longer escape the consequences of their actions."

One of their first victims was the chairman of a city publishing firm, who has asked not to be named.

PVC members said that they targeted him because his company published a nostalgic book which they said "romanticised industry, wage slavery and capatilism."

In a threatening message sent to websites and newsletters, they said:"PVC thought it was time for action and the peace needed to be disturbed for the chairman of the board."

City councillor Celia Lukins has also been targeted by the group for suggesting that homeless people could get advice from the Hub centre.

After dumping waste in her garden, PVC announced:"Enjoy the re-landscaping Celia? We did!"

Councillor Lukins declined to comment on the incident, but friends at the city council said she had been upset by the vandalism.

Police spokesman Darren Bane said both incidents were being investigated, but the force was not yet attributing them to any particular organisation.
