Fuck the monarchy street party!

Dave | 30.01.2002 11:19

Start organising an antimonarchy celebration now.

Dear old Lizzy is getting worried that nobody is going to celebrate her coronation. As public spirited individuals it should not be beyond our means to throw a proper "street party" to rejoice in the 50 years of benelovent and wise rule we have enjoyed?

Opposing The Jubilee

30.01.2002 14:37

The Movement Against The Monarchy will shortly be announcing a few bits and peices.

Keep an eye on www.fuckthejubilee.com

In the meantime we should all be looking to organise events in our communities and make sure that when the royal parasites tour the UK this year, they are booed in the streets at every opportunity.
Finally there is no shortage of phone in's, discussion sites etc where we can say "bollocks" to this whole farce.

Yes, but...

Much as I agree with the sentiments put forward here, surely the best way to put a damper on the Jubilee celebrations is to ignore them completely? This has the added advantage of costing no money, requiring no organisation, and totally spoiling the anticipated festive atmosphere!

party to make the government look pants

people dont give a shit about the monarchy but people do want to party and you only have to look at the millenium celebrations to see how if the media promotes it then itll be huge. i think that if the government organises and promotes the party then private companies will pour money into the celebrations. therefore we should organise our own party which should be aimed at the public and not the activist community.
also keep it positive have positive messages that subvert the monarchist message of nationalism etc. party for asylum seekers, gay rights, homeless people, youth, women (im sure you can think of more subversive ones). that way we'll probably incite some monarchist into having some picket of our party or whatever and that makes them look bad. which is better than us holding a picket and trying to stop people's parties (very boring).

The Royals can be 'dissed or ignored, but they could also lead a green revolution...
If we all get on bikes, get fit for the day and enjoy London all by bike, skate or roller-blade, stopping off to see the bonfires and back in time for tea...

Go green, the environment starts at home, with a bike!

Look no further than the netherlands, where the much trumpeted (by the media) royal wedding between crown prince Willem-Alexander and Maxima Zorreguieta (who i think is related to one of the senior argentinians from the bad old junta days) is due to take place on the 2nd feb.

Recently a media rush around an online chat with the prince and his fiance turned into a fiasco when something went wrong, oops. it's claimed some sort of denial of service attack was launched on the chat server, but it could just as easily have been the company providing the facilities botching such a massive job.

either way, ha ha ha!

The wedding 02.02.02 (which of course also coincides with the ongoing WEF meeting in New York) will be met with street theatre protests, cultural piss taking and general mockery and a multi media project collaboration with public access tv - also some pink and silver style carnival party stuff...

see following for details:
