Bill before the House would reinstate the draft - HR 3598

Patty Hearst | 18.01.2002 07:56

The Universal Military Training and Service Act of 2001, HR 3598, was
introduced in the House on 12/20/01. Did you hear about it? Me neither
- except on Indymedia.

The summary of this bill is: "To require the induction into the Armed Forces of young men registered under
the Military Selective Service Act, and to authorize young women to volunteer, to receive basic military
training and education for a period of up to one year."

The full text of this bill can be seen on the national Indy site
at: http://www.indymedia.org/front.php3?article_id=120299&group=webcast
OR

at the congressional legislation search engine,  http://thomas.loc.gov/ by searching under "hr 3598". (If
you just put in "3598," it won't show up.)
