That freemasonry may be responsble for both? Now that's a big trend. Wish I could be there. After all the anarchist solution is the only viable ultimate. And would only be sought after by a kind of inverse freemasonry.

Then and now......

Yes, Bakunin was a prolific freemason as well as belonging to various other secret societies, some of his own invention. Many other "radicals" were members of masonic lodges - e.g. Mazzini and Garibaldi in Italy. Most were members of the "atheistic" "Grand Orient" masonry as opposed to the deist English variety (Grand Lodge) or the Catholic Chivalric Occult versions (Scots Rite, Rectified Rite, Martinism etc)
More interesting today are the attempts of various occult (usually Nietzchean-aristocratic-fascist or as they prefer it "traditionalist")forms of masonry to influence and subvert anarchist, Green and New Age movements. See the synarchists dealt with in the book "The Stargate Conspiracy" by Prince and Picknett and their (the synarchists) links to various shady secret service/occult manipulations. In Britain people like Home and Boulter play about with this sort of stuff - what their real agenda is , the Grand Architect of the Universe knows ! ;o)
