Loony Mayday Idea #1

LØÖñ£¥ çwRL | 10.01.2002 21:37

Media Take-over time (LOONY MAYDAY IDEA #1)

For Mayday actions this year, why not concentrate on the corporate media, as they are the main players of mis-information. The Media headquarters (BBC, Sky etc) could be surrounded and blocked so no reporters can get in or out, and if necessary the buildings could be stormed, and maybe if we're really lucky we could get control of their airwaves and use it to our advantage.
Think about it, it may be a bit far-fetched, but it's possible. (it'd also be amusing as well!)
Solidarity.

(some of you lot use yer noggins and come up with some bad-ass ideas!!!)

Targetting the media

11.01.2002 00:05

We can spread lists of email addies and plan a co-ordinated mass e-mailing to co-incide with actions and explain why we're doing it. Let's go on doing actions until the issues raised get proper coverage.

SMS as well!

I think this is a great idea!
The MEDIA should be the focus of this MayDay. Especially Time Warner / AOL, Disney, CNN etc.
The e-mailaddresses of Mp's should be sent e-mails as well. SMS could also be used. Is anyone out there a good enough programmer to come up with an auto re-mailer to keep sending the same e-mail. Local BBC/commercal radio might all spread the horizons.

I LIKE IT

Sounds like a great idea.
Might be better to do this after mayday
I think Mayday this year should be a week of local and gathered protests etc and this could perhaps finish it off
We want to do something else aswell or it will just be a fuckup like last year (although if the police trap us in i wont be standing around doing nothing for 8 hours like last year)
I would like to see the sun headquarters occupied (burnt down ; )

moral dilema

Shall we or shall we not target the less bad less right wing papers - ie the Guardian, the Observer and possibly the Independent.

disclaimer: when I say "target" I'm not suggesting we do anything against the law - just peaceful protests.

(don't tell me peaceful protests are against the law now... wouldn't surprise me)

I really like the idea of occupying the sun, it would be pretty hard to get into what is basically a propaganda distrubution fortress, but once inside, only the internal security guards could kick us out, the police couldn't do a fucking thing (providing we hadn't broken any laws, such as criminal damage)

for more information on the sun, including a disturbing analysis of the way the sun handled the hillsboro tradgedy go to a cutural chernoble a report by john pilger

time 4 action

A great idea, and will be funny to see the news reports about the 'riots and machete wielding protestors'. Think the Sunday Times is well due considering it printed an article a year (or two) back stating that Reclaim the Streets had bunkers full of weapons across London ready to unleash on May 1st - an article written by a real loony called Melanie Philips.

Anyway, May 1st is fast approaching...when are the planning meetings? I'm guessing there are some planned?
