INDYMEDIA SPAM ALERT
tomato | 30.12.2001 14:18
Spammers are searching indymedia for email addresses to spam.
We have recently begun receiving tons of spam through an email address which was only used once for a single article on indymedia, so it is obvious where the spammers got this address from.
If you have your email address publicly displayed on indymedia, or indeed on any other webpage, news post, comment, or e-group forum, then we suggest disgusing your email address to make it harder for automated email address collecters to pick up.
some suggestions for the (fake) email address nobody@nobody.com that will break it for the spammers but still keep it human readable are:
nobody @ nobody . com
nobodyATnobodyDOTcom
nobody@ nospam@nobody.com (remove nospam to email)
nobody@yourtrousers.nobody.com (remove yourtrousers to email)
nobody@capitalism.nobody.com (eradicate capitalism before replying :)
there are many other fun variants :)
