Why are “America’s Mayor” and FEMA obstructing the investigation of the WTC disaster? Why have they worked so hard to destroy the evidence? Why are they threatening the investigators and preventing them from talking to the media? If you read between the lines of the cautiously-worded NY Times article below and factor in the material at  http://baltech.org/lederman/ you’ll see yet another huge government cover-up unfolding.

The economic system is deeply flawed and has served to concentrate money, land and power in the hands of a few. The concentration of economic power and ecological devastation have heralded the collapse of many civilizations and empires. At this time in history, humanity must choose between the health and well-being of our planet, humanity, and other lifeforms, or the further enrichment of the ruling elite. The choice is clear. The World Bank, International Monetary Fund, World Trade Organization, World Economic Forum, and "Trade Agreements," such as the Multilateral Agreement on Investments (MAI) blatantly favor the rich over all environmental and human rights concerns (see  http://www.tradewatch.org/). Civil society is now engaged in a tremendous struggle against these deadly institutions which value money over life.

A tribal leader in eastern Afghanistan threatened on Sunday to launch a war against Afghan Interim Setup Chairman Hamid Karzai if US jets launched another attack on his area, Afghan Islamic Press reported.  http://www.dawn.com/2001/12/24/top12.htm

Mr. Speaker, we are here now in chapter 11. . . Members of Congress are official trustees presiding over the greatest reorganization of any Bankrupt entity in world history, the U.S. Government. We are setting forth hopefully, a blueprint for our future. There are some who say it is a coroner's report that will lead to our demise.

In order to keep the government accountable, the people have a right to know the conditions of confinement and whether the detainees are being treated fairly and properly. In late November, Amnesty International sent a 26-page memorandum to the attorney general listing its concerns relating to the treatment of the detainees.

Why risk alienating Russia, China and major US allies in Europe in pursuit of an unproven missile defense system? Why abandon the treaty now when experts have indicated that the current missile defense testing program could go on for years before running up against limits imposed by the agreement?

"I prefer not to use the word propaganda," says Lt. Col. Glenn Ayers, the 9th PSYOP battalion commander. "It has negative connotations." So it does, but many argue it shouldn't. Dr. Philip Taylor, in his book "Munitions of the Mind," writes that "Propaganda itself is neither sinister nor evil. It is really no more than the organization of methods designed to persuade people to think and behave in a certain way, and in wartime that usually means getting them to fight or to support the fight."

While it's difficult to quantify PSYOP success, Sun Tzu, whom many consider the original PSYOPer, wrote that "To capture the enemy's entire army is better than to destroy it. . . . For to win one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the acme of skill. To subdue the enemy without fighting is the supreme excellence."

Next September Tony Blair will be going to the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg to teach the world about saving the planet, just as his government completes the greatest assault on environmental protection this country has ever known. With his customary messianic zeal, he's said he "wants the UK to lead the world on sustainability". So why is his government trying to hustle through reforms in the planning system which rip away current protections?

Congressional action is being sought in the wake of mounting evidence that insurance firms are exploiting the terrorist attacks to increase costs outrageously at the same time the industry is seeking taxpayer handouts.

It has been more than 16 years since a civilian working for the Navy was charged with passing secrets to Israel. Jonathan Pollard pled guilty to conspiracy to commit espionage and is serving a life sentence. At first, Israeli leaders claimed Pollard was part of a rogue operation, but later took responsibility for his work.

Nineteen years later, what was happening then to the Palestinians in Lebanon is happening to them in Palestine. Since the Al-Aqsa Intifada began last September, Palestinians have been sequestered by the Israeli army in no fewer than 220 discontinuous little ghettos, and subjected to intermittent curfews often lasting for weeks at a stretch. No one, young or old, sick or well, dying or pregnant, student or doctor, can move without spending hours at barricades, manned by rude and deliberately humiliating Israeli soldiers.

The U.S. corporate and banking establishment seeks to maintain U.S. domination throughout the globe for their own benefit. It is these corporate and banking elites who profit from the exploitation of oil and natural gas resources in the Middle East and South Asia, from bloated military contracts and from Bush administration bailouts and tax breaks. With skyrocketing unemployment, evictions, foreclosures, and slashing of welfare and healthcare benefits at home, people in the U.S. need billions to create jobs, improve our schools, and provide quality health care. Instead the Bush administration is spending billions on bombing civilians and military aggression.

When the United States pummels tiny states like Grenada and Panama, the U.S. media and public have no apparent embarrassment at the imbalance of power and the bully-boy aspect of the incursions; in fact, there is pride at super-Goliath beating up the mini-Davids.

Sima Samar, a veteran of the Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan (RAWA) and a doctor who worked for years in the Pakistan refugee camps, has been appointed one of four deputy prime ministers in the new interim government. She ran a hospital and a school for refugee girls in Quetta, Pakistan, and helped coordinate non-fundamentalist education efforts within Afghanistan. She is serving in the same government with Northern Alliance leaders she had harshly criticized for years.

In 1997 high-flying Enron found itself in a pitched battle in Oregon, where it planned to acquire Portland General Electric, Oregon's largest public utility. Warning that Enron's motives were of a highly predatory nature, the staff of the state's Public Utility Commission (PUC) opposed the merger. They warned that an Enron takeover would mean less ability to protect the environment, increased insecurity for PGE's workers and, in all likelihood, soaring prices. Other critics argued that Enron's actual plan was to cannibalize PGE, in particular its hydropower, which Enron would sell into California's energy market.

Catching criminals in modern capitalism is like the labours of Sisyphus, a never-ending task. This is because crime is overwhelmingly committed by the poor, the disenfranchised, and the cynical, in short the people without a stake in society. And it is capitalism – the system which commands the unwavering support of Blair and Hague alike–which creates such people by the bucketload.

Project Echelon is a multinational government venture between the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc. The purpose is to be able to gather ALL information and process it via using computers, satellites, and all telecommunication equipment. France has tried to build their own system, and CHINA has one now. We can understand the reason why countries desire such a system...to protect their soveignity. Danny Casolaro found out that Project ECHELON was going private, and that a listening post, an underground base, was set up on the tiny Island of Dominica. The builders of such a system included the "OCTOPUS COMPANIES" plus the power Elite of the world. (See an earlier post about the Octopus companies.) In the new millenium, it is the direction of control of information that will rule the world...this is accomplished by the "NEW" Private (non USA) Echelon Project, and one of the KEY locations exist on the Island of Dominica.

One of the first questions asked when discussing socialism is "who's going to clean the sewers?" This apparently simple question contains so many actual problems and mistaken ideas about not only socialism but our lives now that it is effectively unanswerable in that form. So let's look at the actual situation, of sewers and work in them.

People do yearn for salvation, and never so strongly as at Christmas time. The hectic and desperate attempts to inject some meaning, sense, and humanity into his cold and materialistic existence that modern western man makes at this time every year, are sad to behold. He ought to break out his mold. Get his priorities straight. Choose Eros over Thanatos! Put feeling,
compassion etc. before materialism and not use Christmas as a sorry
replacement for correct action and sober reflection.

Almost imperceptibly, medicine has taken on a saving, or messianic role, the characteristics of which we must examine. Looking back through history, there is a sense in which medicine can be said to have displayed characteristics that have at various times characterised the Roman Catholic Church: autocracy, centralization, the control and manipulation of people, censorship, propaganda, total obedience, infallibility, the destruction of heretics, the stamping out of individuality. All this, of course, has been done in the name of public health and the general good, just as the church acted for mankind’s salvation.

We live within cultures in which victimhood is as natural as breathing, and has been so for hundreds of years. Hitler's hyperbole over German victimisation led to a world war. Palestinian victimhood today justifies murderous suicide bombers. Israelies might look like oppressors right now, but they hasten to remind themselves and the world that they too come from a holocaust victim heritage. It's all like some bizarre international league table of victimhood.

Should I say plainly, ‘I am not a Muslim’, occurred to me. It did not seem fair. In occupied Denmark of 1940, Germans ordered the Jews to wear the yellow Star of David. The king of Danes wore such a star as a sign of his solidarity with his Jewish subjects. Would I fail this test of common humanity and proclaim my non-Muslim kosher origin? It would feel like sacrificing a Muslim in my stead. I tried to compromise: ‘I do not read Koran a lot’, said I. The officer Gomez, a big dark man, did not relent. ‘But you read Koran?’ ‘Occasionally’, I tried again.

The Israeli government of Ariel Sharon and the present Israeli Defense Force command is the most significant asset of the Anglo-American faction pressing the "Clash of Civilizations" war-plan, as evidenced by Sharon's persistent efforts to provoke a new religious war in the Middle East against the Palestinian Authority and a range of other Arab targets.

By forging passports and identity documents of Arab and western countries and providing sound background legends and cover, Mossad has successfully sent into Egypt and other Arab countries Israelis disguised and documented as Arabs or citizens of European countries. . . . These persons are also useful for their ability to pass completely for a citizen of the nation in question. The Israeli talent for counterfeiting or forging foreign passports and documents ably supports the agent’s authenticity.

On 22 April, this website broke the news that Skull and Bones, the Yale secret society that claims both George H. W. Bush and George W. Bush as members, might be falsely claiming to be a public charity and not just a social club. Not just Skull and Bones, but at least seven other well-heeled Yale organizations also appear to be falsely claiming charitable status. Eight of the most exclusive organizations all have over $1 million in assets, all pay either no or very little income on their substantial annual earnings, and all claim tax-exempt status as charitable organizations contrary to guidance from the Internal Revenue Service. On most universities, fraternities and sororities engage in essentially the same activities, yet they qualify as social clubs and not as charities. Yale should not be in a class of its own, at least in the eyes of the IRS.

One ought to consider, in the first place, the matter of the timing of the Times’ editorial. Walker was arrested in Mazar-i-Sharif in early December. He was thereupon interrogated by CIA agents, an episode captured on videotape, during which he was taunted and threatened with death. Walker survived the subsequent massacre carried out by Northern Alliance and US forces at Jala-i-Qanghi prison, at one point standing in freezing water in a cellar for perhaps 20 hours. The video of his interview with CNN shows a young man filthy, wounded and seemingly half-dead.

The first thing to realise is that history does not arrive at midnight, like a rabbit out of a magician's hat. History makes nothing, brings nothing, stands for nothing. History is social motion and the speed and texture of that motion is made by men and women. We make it out of the material environment that exists and in making it transform the material environment and our own existence. We make our own future; it does not arrive as hero or demon, but is the product of our own energy.

In a frank admission of the illegitimacy of the Law on Indigenous
Rights and Culture, the Chiapas Secretary of Government, Emilio

When I am asked to become part of a large and violent body such as the Israeli army, I should ask in what activities this body is engaged and whom does it serve. My parents, teachers and peers might answer that the army of the state is necessary to preserve my own security and the security of the citizens of the State of Israel. I desire very much that there will be security for the citizens of Israel and for me.

That Walker, 20, was found in the company of the Taliban, without more evidence, is not sufficient, as circumstantial evidence cannot serve as the basis for proving a treasonous act.

Early in 1993, Bush the First appointees on the Commodity Futures Trading Commission voted to exempt energy traders such as the now collapsed Enron from anti-fraud regulations. Initiating this Enron- friendly ruling was Wendy Gramm, wife of Texas senator Phil Gramm. Shortly thereafter, Wendy Gramm joined the Enron board of directors.

"I think we need to find out why the citizens of the world's wealthiest, most envied, most powerful country are so cynical, so distressed, so angry, so ticked off about so many things." (William J. Bennett, former Secretary of Education)

First, big is bad - the corollary of Schumacher's small is beautiful. The centralized state, particularly the mass-society state of the 20th century, is inherently a failure: it is authoritarian and anti-liberty, imposing checks and laws on all individual actions; it is hierarchical and arbitrary, with power at the top and subservience for the great majority below; it is bureaucratic in order to function at all, but it functions poorly nonetheless because bureaucracies are always inefficient and clumsy and self-perpetuating; it is undemocratic, because it is too big to allow direct face-to-face decision making and substitutes various forms of representation, all of which take power from the individual.

The concept of individual liberty is simple: individuals should be free to do whatever they please as long as they don't harm others by using force or fraud. This is the basic ethical tenet or "golden rule" of all religions, one corrupted by layers of theology and ritual and centuries of kowtowing to political authority. Individual consent–not some nationalist, racial, religious, tribal or, ideological construct or “social contract”–is the only legitimate basis of any social, economic and political organization. However, supporting the idea and value of individual liberty is not enough to obtain liberty. We must support institutional structures that make it impossible for public or private entities to crush individual liberty.

Peter Neumann, a senior computer scientist at SRI International and one of the leading authorities on computerized vote counting in the country, was similarly skeptical of precision vote-counting machinery. "The Vote-O-Matic is not accurate enough; there's hanging and floating chad and so on," he said. "But hand counting is substantially more accurate in reporting the true intent of the voters."

Organic agriculture is an ecological production management system that promotes and enhances biodiversity, biological cycles and soil biological activity. It is based on minimal use of off-farm inputs and on management practices that restore, maintain and enhance ecological harmony. ‘Organic’ is a labeling term that denotes products produced under the authority of the Organic Foods Production Act. The principal guidelines for organic production are to use materials and practices that enhance the ecological balance of natural systems and that integrate the parts of the farming system into an ecological whole. Organic agriculture practices cannot ensure that products are completely free of residues; however, methods are used to minimize pollution from air, soil and water. Organic food handlers, processors and retailers adhere to standards that maintain the integrity of organic agriculture products. The primary goal of organic agriculture is to optimize the health and productivity of interdependent communities of soil life, plants, animals and people.

The Monetary system of America is actually controlled by a private bank, The Federal Reserve Bank. The majority of its stock is owned by banks that are owned and controlled by a consortium of multinational bankers. These banks and The FED manipulate money supplies and the cost of money as well as its availability. This manipulation in this and other forms controls the destiny of the entire financial system of the United States and the entire World.

Indigenous peoples, undoubtedly, are the ones most adversely affected by globalization and by the WTO Agreements. However, we believe that it is also us who can offer viable alternatives to the dominant economic growth, export-oriented development model. Our sustainable lifestyles and cultures, traditional knowledge, cosmologies, spirituality, values of collectivity, reciprocity, respect and reverence for Mother Earth, are crucial in the search for a transformed society where justice, equity, and sustainability will prevail.

Human survival depends on a community-based, people-centered alternative beyond the failed extremist ideologies of communism and capitalism. This alternative is already being created through the initiatives of millions of people around the world who are taking back control of their lives and communities to create places where people can live and grow in balance with the living earth. When Corporations Rule the World provides an agenda of national and global reforms by which we may reclaim our power to localize economies while globalizing consciousness.

When the Exxon Valdez went aground in Prince William Sound in 1989, spilling millions of gallons of oil, it caused grievous environmental damage which will never be fully erased. But Exxon absolved itself of future responsibility with a $1 billion settlement. And because of the current tax laws, Exxon could deduct that settlement as a business expense, sticking taxpayers with $250 million of the cleanup.

Both U.S. and international law recognize the rights of conscientious objectors to refuse military service. It follows, then, that if it is illegal to force individuals to kill, it should also be illegal to force individuals to pay for somebody else to kill.

When we are alone, we are all militias of one. When together with others in a situation requiring a defensive response, we have the duty to act together in concert to meet the challenge. Those two component duties, of individuals to defend the community, and to act together in concert with others present, when combined with a third component duty to prepare to do one's duty and not just wait until the danger is clear and present, comprises the militia duty.

Two inescapable facts confronted Latin American pastors in the latter half of this 20th century: that most of their parishoners lived in grinding, abject poverty -- and that the Church represented the only viable community organization in their world. Out of this awareness came a new understanding of the very meaning of the Church's work. The movement that came to be called "Liberation Theology" began with the awareness that it is blasphemous to care for people's souls while ignoring their needs for food, shelter and human dignity. As Jesus participated in the suffering of the poor, and proclaimed to them the good news of justice and freedom, so must today's church engage in the struggle for justice in this world.

It's a good question. A masturbatory question if we're just posturing. A necessary question if we ever hope to live peaceably on this planet. But make no mistake about it, a dangerous question if we're serious because it may demand everything we have and then, in the end, reveal us for who we truly are.

Guns continued to boom with ferocity, killing at least 13 Pakistani soldiers and destroying 18 of their bunkers in Samba and Hira Nagar sectors along the International Border prompting the state government to put itself on high alert in the last 24 hours. Almost wartime level escalation on borders forced more people to flee their homes. Two more villages Mangoo Chak and Dullian in Hira Nagar belt were evacuated and their 1,000 odd residents shifted to Londi, a village close to the Jammu-Pathankote highway for safety reasons.

The “hostile actions” by the Chinese in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim is, according to strategic experts, part of a well-thought-out move to corner India on two fronts. China has also beefed up its presence in Myanmar’s Coco Islands on the Bay of Bengal and plans to move in two aircraft carriers that are under construction now to the area.

Both India and Pakistan in recent days have deployed substantial combat forces to important strategic areas along their borders and with tension continuing to mount the Indian army has ordered residents in border villages to leave. The powerful Indian air force has moved more equipment to the frontier bases both to bring units based there up to full war strength and to further reinforce them with more Fighter units from Central and Eastern Commands. Indian defence ministry officials pointedly say that they are only responding to a massive troop build-up by Pakistan.
