BBC/Afghan News Network | 22.12.2001 06:06

Conflicting reports of an attack on a convoy of personel destroyed in Afghanisatn near the town of Khost. US says it contained "leadership" whilst not mentioning Al-Qaeda or Taliban. Reprts from civilians in the area appear to suggest that it contained local tribal leaders on their way to the inauguration of the new government in Kabul.

Ceefax was carring a report that the US had admitted the people in the convoy may have had been elders earlier this evening.

Also the BBC are reporting large numbers of casulties surrounding the Tora Bora complex and this is followed by a lovely piece on how brilliant american bombs are. They are developing bombs that will travel up into the cave complex before exploding. (Believe it if it happens) More likely they will go off course and destroy yet more villages.
