a little reminder of why religion is dangerous.

this is the lyrics to a song i found on the net about 2 months B.S11 (before september 11). the fact that this was written by an american shows there not all bad...well ok most of them are but there are a few exceptions.

We have to make the distinction between people and the politics of their government. In the UK the majority who voted voted for parties other than the government (and many did not vote at all). and Bush only just scraped into power (and should not have won, had the voting system operated fairly).
It is American politics that are the problem. American people are as diverse as the rest of us and the lack of media information (even worse than here) which is not directly aimed at fueling the fire of patriotism doesn't help (to put it mildly).

I certainly don't like what those sick Americans are doing to the world but please leave God out of it for fuck sake! This is not funny if God loves those things then he would had blown up the planet by now and probably do us a favour too. As a christian I feel insulted!

maybe i should have made it clearer that the post said why religion is DANGEROUS. i didnt say its inherently bad, thats a whole different issue. its just that like any other ideology, altough more so becuase of its often (not always)heirachical and authoritarian structure, it is abused and used by people to justify a lot of things that have nothing really to do with it. hope that clears things up pegassus.

Oh bless, do you feel insulted about someone ripping the piss out of God? How do you think it feels when the 'Christian' warlords spit fire from the sky as you sit in you Afghani house, or Iraqi bomb shelter? Surley God is ripping the piss out of these people?
Do you also feel bad about the Spanish inquisition or the child murdering crusades? This might be in the past, but the new Christian empire is in place, and a fucking brutal place it is too.
Many so called christians simply find a way to fit their own greedy capatilist life into a religious philosiphy, which is often a mile removed from original intentions. For an example, look at army chapplins!?!
Jesus was about Love, peace and understanding. Sound like Bush or Blair?
