STUFF THE MONARCHY

JIM | 15.12.2001 12:12

Cymru Goch - the Welsh Socialists seek to create a broad-based alliance of progressives and Republicans across Wales to register the total opposition of Welsh people to another 50 years of the English monarchy in Wales. We aim to make Charlie, prince of Wales, THE LAST PRINCE.

The Jubilee weekend of June 2nd - 4th next year will mark 50 years of the reign of this English monarch and her spawn in Wales and over 700 years of the English monarchy in this country. In this time the monarchy has presided over the almost complete theft of our land, the destruction of our manufacturing base, and the eradication of our language and culture from most of our country. In short, we've had a gutfull.

Attempts to resist the military domination of Wales and the subjugation of our culture have been met with brute force and betrayal, from the Glyndwr uprising of the 15th century to direct action campaign of Meibion Glyndwr in the 1980s. But next year we hope to witness the birth of a new Republican movement in Wales. Combining direct action with a community-oriented (as opposed to the whole London-centred bias of the English Left) approach, we aim to create a movement that will rebuild this country from the bottom up.

The English monarchy have no part in the future we envision, so they've got to go, and next year through direct action and the creation of a broad-based alliance we will register our opposition to the continued existence of the Royal family - in Wales or anywhere else for that matter.

But sectarian we are not, so our aim is to create a broad-based alliance of the various social movements in Wales, whether you are Green, Red, or any particular colour, you are free and welcome to affiliate to our campaign and join in the activities we hope to co-ordinate across Wales, and in conjunction with other anti-monarchy campaigns and activities across the UK.

Our campaign begins on March the 1st, St. Davids day, and continues right through the Jubilee "celebrations" in mid June. Up to that time, we aim to set up Stuff the monarchy committees across the whole of Wales. Get in touch on the e-mail address above.

A welcome development

In my opinion, this is a welcome development. We all need to grow up and realise we do not need a monarchy. If this campaign makes good progress in Wales it will strengthen the call to abolish the monarchy in England and Scotland, as well as in other places like Australia.

The "English' Monarchy.

Nice to see our celtic friends from Wales drawing the distinction between the English (well, German, Russian and Greek anyway) monarchy and the English people instead of the steady stream of hate for anyone and anything English from certain Scottish people. Obviously our Welsh comrades realise the enemy is the ruling class and that once the Windsor-Saxe-Coburg-Gotha clan falles, the whole rotten class system will come down along with it. Not too sure about a republic though. That would imply some sort og government. All the best with it anyway. Or should that be Yach y da.

FREEDOM

I know of no Scots who express hatred for the Sassenachs...(name one) and if they do, it was kindled in their hearts by the point of a sword. You can forgive, but you can never forget one thousand years of subjugation by the English Monarchy. Good luck to the Welsh and Irish, in finally ridding themselves of the oppressor's shackles.

You've never had the drunken illiterate kilt wearing bastards coming down to play football singing their stupid sectarian songs then. They're a shower of shit and their whisky is ditchwater compared to Irish. And I'll bet the ones not from Glasgow are just as bad. Give me blue face paint and a dodgy grasp of history or give me freedom from Sherridan the police grass.
