Cardiff Bothered

Afghan Plight Night
12 hour Benefit Gig for Red Cross Afghanistan Appeal

As the first snows of winter fall and aid finally trickles in to Afghanistan, Afghanis are still only getting half of aid needed to survive the winter, Cardiff Bothered – a group of concerned folk from the South Wales area – have pooled their collective talents to put on a 12-hour spectacular to help get food to the war-stricken country.
The line–up features a host of local and national bands, DJs and performers coming together on one bill. To be held at the Cardiff Coal Exchange on Saturday 19 January 2002 @ 2pm to 2am.

Confirmed acts include
Blue Horses, Zion Train Sound System, Alabama 3’s D. Wayne Love and Larry Love, Nik Turner’s All Stars, Doofer, Agent J, Captain Paranoid and the Delusions, Gringoska, Quattro, Nation Record’s Charged and Fun-da-mental (DJ set), Optimus Prime DJ Jaffa, (Urban Poets), DJ Noise, DJ Jung, Al’s Breakzance Crew and NoFitState Circus and many more!!!!!

On the day there will be stalls and information available about the continuing Afghani crisis and other related issues. Authentic Punjabi cuisine will be provided by Bapu G's catering.

Creche facilities also available until 6pm. Children under 16 free. Families welcome.

The event will be video streamed for live broadcast on the Afghan Plight Night website.

Cardiff Bothered was formed on 31 October 2001, in response to the events of 7 October 2001, and the fact that we do not want war, we want peace.

Cardiff Bothered is a loose collective of people from all walks of life who have come together to bring you Afghan Plight Night and are likely to bring more ‘parties-with-a-purpose’ your way soon……………..(provided someone pays the phone bill).

We are BOTHERED by the fact that the population of one of the poorest countries in the world, continue to suffer in the name of 'Operation Enduring Freedom' and the legacy it will leave.

90% of those killed by armed conflict are women and children, and 80% of the refugees worldwide.
19 January 2002 is intend to send a message out, that people are not immune to the suffering of those less fortunate around the world.

Back Stage Press passes will be available for the event.
