DEMAND A REFERENDUM ON THE PRIVATISATION OF THE TUBE

Email London Mayor Ken Livingstone, and Chancellor Gordon Brown at  http://www.catp.org
The email will say "As a Londoner, I demand my democratic right for a referendum on tube privatisation"

In poll after poll a massive majority of Londoners oppose Blair’s plan for the tube Londoners voted for a Mayor who stood against PPP. During the general election Tony Blair was frightened he would lose votes in London. So he said he would make a deal with the Mayor. After the election he called off the deal. Bob Kiley, the Mayor’s tube expert was no longer wanted as chief negotiator with the companies.

Londoners will have to live with Tony Blair’s decision long after he has retired to the country.

We do not want our safety and comfort in the hands of those who have made the railway dangerous, expensive and unreliable.

Each time that Londoners are allowed to say what they think they call for PPP to be dumped.

RAILTRACK’s collapse, and its abandonment by the government, shows yet again what a disaster privatisation of transport has been.
