Why did Ricky Bishop died in Police Custody?

Satya | 03.12.2001 12:55

The family and friends of Ricky Bishop are demanding the truth about the events surrouding Ricky's death.

On the afternoon of Thursday 22nd November, Ricky Bishop with a friend was in a car. The police began to follow them and stopped them on Dalyell Road, South London. Ricky and his friend were taken to Brixton Police station. Ricky's mother was informed by police, that he was in King's College Hospital, later that evening. Ricky's mother had to make her own way down to the hospital, and shortly afterwards she was told that her son died.

The family want answers to the following questions:
1) The police say that Ricky offered to go to the police station voluntarily, that he was not arrested. If that was the case, why was he handcuffed?

2) What are the names of all the police officiers involved?

3) The police say that he struggled with them in the interview room and had managed to 'get free' of his handcuffs. How could a man with his hands cuffed behind his back free himself?

4) Why was there no medical attention provided at the police station for Ricky's injuries? (He had cuts around his mouth, his wrists and injuries to his legs).

5) Why was Ricky searched in the interview room and not on his admission to the custody suite?

6) Was Ricky still cuffed on the way to the hospital?

7) What time was Ricky admitted to hospital?

8) Why was the reason for Ricky's admission to hospital recorded as "unknown"?

9) Why did it take so long to inform the family of Ricky's arrest and admission to hospital?

10) Why did the police issue a press release that was misleading and contained assumed facts?

11) Why was a police press release issued before informing the family of its contents?

WE DEMAND AN ANSWER!
