breakdowns and corruptions of access

I try my best to be non-paranoid on this line. But there are repeated problems of connection. Everytime you try to make an important connection the whole thing fails. Every IP seems to be 205.188.146.146 - this is aol stuff -they've got me back online this time. Anyone experiencing such a problem?

205.188.146.146 internet access block problem.

19.11.2003 10:34

Hi there, this is some general information.....

Some AOL browser users are getting a connecting to site:

    205 . 188 . 146 . 146

Nothing seems to happen and then the

    ERROR  or
    ACTION CANCELLED

message is displayed.

The 205.188.146.146 is an AOL proxy address.

The problem for most will be that you have a Firewall with auto blocking of IP addresses that scan a WAN Miniport (IP) on your computer.

For some reason AOL's proxy must have scanned your computer's ports or your Firewall thought it did. Port scanning can be used to attack computer systems, so the firewall automatically placed the address on the block list.

WHAT TO DO :

You need to go to your 'List Of Blocked  IP Addresses' and delete / remove the 205.188.146.146 number.

A variation on this, for some firewalls, would be to go to the 'Allow IP Address' list and add the 205.188.146.146 number.

For an Easy Designer block problem, you need to identify which IP address is related to Easy Designer and carry out one or other of the actions above.

As Firewall services from various suppliers are set-up in different ways, you will have to follow the normal procedure for removing an IP address from the firewall block list. Or adding an IP address to the 'Allow Address' list.

Services supplied may ALSO be different as to how they work, you may have to SWITCH OFF and RESTART your computer, as some firewalls will not accept the change until after a restart.

This may or may not be the total answer in all cases. Some firewalls and the AOL browser, just seem to dislike each other.

Hope this helps some of you.

If you need to e-mail me please do so. However. I will point out. I am in the U.K. and may not answer your mail until a day later, depending on world time difference. Thanks in advance for understanding.

If you have success using any of my solution you can always e-mail me to say. Or even better post a note on the message boards with my link..  http://hometown.aol.co.uk/bzrwebsite/pagelink.html   to say the problem was solved. In that way, others may see the item and click on the link and solve their problem.
