No Sweat Devils take on Nike Management Vampires

About 50 vampires, devils, beasts and ghouls picketted Nike's central London store on Halloween in protest at their sweatshop hell.

We got a great response from passers by, many Nike workers and the press, even if the specially hired Nike security guards weren't so friendly.
Nike use factories in countries like Indonesia, China, Vietnam and Bangladesh, anywhere wages are low and unions weak. Conditions in their factories are often unbearably harsh. They refuse to insist that the workers making their garments be free to organise independent unions and fight for decent conditions. Meanwhile,
Nike Boss Philip Knight rakes in millions of dollars every year and lives in conditions a million miles away from the slum accomodation and forced overtime in cramped sweatshops that his workers face.

This isn't the end of our campaign against Nike, we'll be back. If you want copies of our petition against Nike or our postcards you can send them, get in touch.

DEBATE ON GLOBALISATION AT NO SWEAT CONFERENCE

Pete Green and Colin Hines will be debating Globalisation as part of the conference we are organising in London on November 24.

A panel discussion on Anti-Capitalism after Genoa has also been added to the agenda.
Dita Sari, the Indonesian trade union activist and heroine of the revolution that swept away the Suharto dictatorship is the main speaker on the day, there will also be video showings and practical workshops to plan our campaigning.

For leaflets and posters advertising the Conference and Dita Sari's
speaker tour please get in touch.
