On Friday October 12th, a group of people went to the BBC on the busy Oxford Road in Manchester to protest about the medias manipulation of information surrounding the war and attacks on Afghanistan.

Four people climbed onto the roof with the aid of a long ladder and hung"Blair Broadcasting Corruption" from the three flagpoles. Other banners included "uk.indymedia.org" "Destrot Imperialism not Afghanistan" "Truth - the first casualty of war" and "Stop Warmongering scum corporate media"

Security guards and police got onto the roof and struggled with protesters and tried to pull down the banners. Howerver they remained on the roof re-tying and holdong the banners.

Leaflets were distributed whilst a Samba La Clave band played. Lots of people gathered and stopped outside the BBC. There was a positive response from people who gathered around and stayed outside the BBC and passing vehicles.

Police were called and despite attempts to remove the ladder, people held it in place to act as an escape route. One person got down and away, the other 3 were grabbed but no-one was arrested.

"Through our medias eyes, Americas actions are never seen as terrorism, though they induce terror on a grand scale. However much they bomb medicine factories in Sudan or maintain a military presence in over 44 countries, they still expect to be seen as the global arbiters of justice and freedom"

"If it is immoral to slaughter thousands of Americans in an effort to disrupt the US economy and force a change in US policy, then it is no less immoral to slaughter thousands of Afghans in an effort to force the Taliban to change its policy"
