police repression

as we see the birth of this rapidly spreading protest movement against the war (always such an inadequate word to express the crushing of the defenceless) we will see the use of police strategy practised in bradford and genoa, before the current crackdown and expansion of suppressing laws, being utilised. the FEMA internment camps are already waiting for occupants in america. the cnd demos this saturday may well pass off peaceably. as they grow then there are bound to either be further atrocities (note the continuation of minor unsettling events- toulouse, the black sea, anthrax, even the italian disaster with odd events around - are they? arent they?) or genoa style repression - infiltrators drawing police attacks on the most peaceable participants. we got to be prepared

Just Released

11.10.2001 14:59

Hi just released on bail along with the others who were arrested last night. Nobody suffered much harassment in the station except for being woken up in the middle of the night and laughed at frequently. Many of us were bruised and bloodied by the baton charge. Many of the police, some in plain clothes, used wooden batons (ie- big sticks). We are all charged with public disorder, one is charged with carrying an offensive weapon (a penknife) and another is charged with trying to steal a policemans radio. In fact the policeman was using the walkie talke to split open the activists head. He had to be taken to hospital where he recieved six stitches. We are back in court next thursday and will be pleading not guilty to all charges. Ten of those arrested were members of the Socialist Workers party, one from the WSM (platform anarchists) and the others Globalise Resistance and/or independents.
