what on earth is this about? the day after an initial horrible and hi-tech bombing of your country, the poorest nation by the richest nations, you release a journalist who has covertly entered your country. while the western nations round up all kinds of pro-islamic dupes. democracy in action

Yeah, imagine the scenario: Afghan journalist sneaks into the UK without a passport covertly covering the war story. Do you think Blair would let her go? Do you think she would be treated well?

She was in process of transport for release BEFORE the bombings btw (still pretty stupid to go to afghanistan without a visa - STUPID - she's a very lucky tabloid reporter indeed, oh and of course no doubt a national heroine or something).
