Who is not for US is for the Taliban

I have signed petitions against the oppression of women in Afghanistan for the last 3 the years (not much use, I admit), AND I was at the demo last night.
Bush says "every nation has to decide wether they are for us or against us". So he tells us there are only two options. Supporting the US government (=freedom) and approving of "Terrorism" (the Taliban including their dictatorship in Afghanistan) or opposing the US and therefor approving of the Taliban regime (which ironically has been installed by the US themselves).
But do we really need to go along with Bushs 2 options? There are more than two positions! I can despise the oppression of women in Afghanistan just as much as I despise the destruction of Kabul, and the fact that millions of ordinary people of Afghanistan had to leave their homes and are now surviving in refugee camps along the borders of Afghanstan. But at least they get food parcels by the armies that made them flee in the first place. Great.

Of course we hate the Taleban!!!!

This war will not help the Afghan people. They need the Taleban removed in a way that is right for them not the west which is only interested in protecting its own interests in the middle east.
This war will not solve the problem of terrorism either it will only incite more terrorists to carry out even more desparate acts in revenge for this attack on Afghanistan. This war will only make the situation ten times worse. Even before the bomings hundreds of thousands of Afghans fed to the Pakistan border to escape the coming air strike and became refugees.
This war is not about fighting terrorism is about imposing western imperialism on the middle east. The USA planned to attack Afghanistan months before the attacks on the WTC and Pentagon so that it could puyt in power a more western friendly government in Afghanistan.

A friend who's a Navy veteran and was almost called up for the Gulf War called me last night. She told me that the bombing began as her group was setting up for Food not Bombs, and an angry man approached her and began yelling at her about how the US should kill in response to the S11 attacks. When he paused, she told him that we'd begun bombing, and his demeanor changed dramatically. "You mean we're killing innocent people?" he asked.
Democracy and freedom, YES!

At the protest outside Downing Street, the SWP did nothing but chant inane harmless slogans like "stop the bombing, stop the hate, spend it on the welfare state".
However the Revolutionary Communist Group (Fight Racism! Fight Imperialism! paper) first made a good speech condemning the government and the Labour Party, saying how it had always been an imperialist party and had gassed the Kurds in 1923 (something the SWP never does because they don't want to offend their Labour friends) and then offered the megaphone to anyone who wanted to speak, even people who just wanted "peace" and not anger.
