Protests in Shannon Airport Ireland

100 protest at Shannon Airport. Send bread not bombs. We dont want to be a gateway for Bushes war. One person arrested, but Irish Press dont want the story. Peace camp being set up. Please join.

US planes are now landing in Shannon. Permission was granted without the consent of the Dail or People of Ireland. Yesterday at least 100 people protested at Shannon Airport with banners and drums. They were led by a group of children in a noisy, festive mood. The march made its way up the one mile avenue to the airport terminal. There were police at various points but the march moved on, insisting that there was no spokesperson or leader for the police to negotiate with.

We reached the terminal, we sang, we shouted and had a 2 min silence for all victims of terror. As far as I am aware there are people still there. The intention is to set up a PEACE CAMP, all are welcome. We do not want to be a gateway for war. Planes have already landed and refuelled. Scud missile carriers have requested permission for landing, we dont know if this has happened. One young woman has been arrested and released on condition she stayed away for 12 hours. She is now back there. No Irish newspaper has carried this story to date, we wonder why. We are in need of a strong presence here. All are welcome. As there is still no Irish Indy Site I will keep an update going here.
Stand up for peace.
