The evening of Friday 21 September saw over 3000 people attend an anti-war meeting in Friends House. Speakers included journalist George Monbiot, Labour MP Jeremy Corbyn, Liz Davies of the Socialist Alliance, broadcaster and novelist Tariq Ali and John Rees of Globalise Resistance.

There was a similar meeting in the friends meeting house in brighton the same night. There were almost a hundred people there including women and children, all there to oppose the war effort and without the need for celebrity speakers.

The unfortunate outcome was to hold a daily vigil against the was even though it was discussed during the meeting that no-one would go to it.

My feeling is that the only way Tory Blair can justify starting or continuing military action is by claiming that the majority of people are behind him. The only way we can oppose this blatantly false claim is by getting a mass of people to congregate in every town, city and village centre on the same day. Only that will make it impossible for them to publish polls that claim to show that two thirds of the population back him.
