UPDATE FROM A.N.S.W.E.R.
Re: September 29 mobilization in DC
*MAJOR VICTORY ? PERMITS ISSUED for Sep. 29*
The A.N.S.W.E.R. coalition is pleased to announce that permits have been issued for Lafayette Park in front of the White House, the White House sidewalk and for a mass march.
It is a great victory for the movement. We?re very pleased
that A.N.S.W.E.R. and our legal representatives at the Partnership for Civil Justice have succeeded in securing the Constitutional rights people have always enjoyed to demonstrate in these areas of Washington DC.
Previously, the permits had not been issued and the organizers and the PCJ attorneys had filed a major lawsuit asserting the First Amendment rights of demonstrators in the areas around the White House.
The granting of the permits means that every person should be secure in the knowledge that we will have a lawful, orderly, disciplined activity against war and racism and in support of civil liberties.
BUS PARKING
Every organizing center and all activists need to know some logistical information: We have secured a bus drop off and unloading zone at H St. between 15th and 16th NW on the north side of Lafayette Park. This means that people canget off of the bus and go directly into the rally
site. In the next few days we will notify people of parking arrangements for buses, vans and cars in the demonstration area. The demonstration should be concluded between 5 and 6pm.
RESPONSE REQUESTED
To all organizers: Please let us know how many people from
your area are coming to the September 29 protest. If you are organizing and are not yet listed as an organizing center, please email back. We will place your contact info on our web site so people in your area can get in touch with you (we are getting thousands of hits daily and many calls from all over the country).
