Exeter Pro-Peace March 20th October

24.09.2001 17:40

Just to let you know that a Pro-Peace March is planned through Exeter, Devon on Saturday 20th October. The idea is to promote a possible peaceful political resolution to the inevitable conflict that the world now finds itself in after the terror witnessed by the world on 11th September. While the end of Terrorism can only be viewed as necessary, it is not necessary for yet more innocent lives to be lost because of this.

The idea is a Peaceful March which would incorporate the whole of the community, including members of the religious communities, schools, University, CND etc & would perhaps include a couple of speakers. While we would be approaching these various groups, we are not actually their representatives, but individuals who have been deeply moved to respond to this problem in a way that seems appropriate.

If anyone would like to provide help or assistance, please let me know, as I have never done anything like this yet!

Peace

Afghan Refugees

27.09.2001 12:33

Anyone watching the media - right, left, whatever - should be able to see that there is NOT going to be a military war. Bush and Blair have made inflamatory statements, have threatened war, but have no basis for doing so. They know, we know, that terrorists of all kinds are based in every country in the world and that at the first sign of ANY military action in Afghanistan, the powder kegs world wide will be ignited. But they can't say so.
At last, the refugees are getting some front page coverage. That is what we should be concerned with. Human life, human beings, human suffering. And that is happening by default.
