I think the ambiguity of 'police state' was lost of the author???

Police state 'no hiding place' for riot suspects
Police have warned there will be no hiding place for those involved in the Bradford riots as they released a further 20 photographs of suspects they wish to question.
The renewed appeal for information from the public follows the arrest of 55 of the 60 men whose images were displayed on posters across the West Yorkshire city.

Two men from Bradford, aged 20 and 21, have been charged with riot and violent disorder respectively.

A further 10 men arrested in dawn raids across the region have been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Police said 93 arrests in total have been made in connection with the disturbances in the Whetley Hill and Manningham areas of the city on July 7.

Detective Chief Superintendent Max McLean, leading the investigation, told a press conference in Bradford that the appeal prompted nearly 1,000 calls or emails from the public.

"This month we are looking for that same level of support so that those responsible for plunging Bradford into the international spotlight for all the wrong reasons can be brought to justice," he said.

"There must be no hiding place for them."

Detectives are investigating more than 300 crimes including assaults on police officers and arson committed during the disturbances.

More than 300 officers were injured during the rioting in the Whetley Hill and Manningham areas of the city. The violence followed an Anti-Nazi League demonstration in Bradford against the National Front.
