The 6th of September saw another solidarity demon for Paul Robinson who was arested in Goteburg and is currently on remand in a gotheburg prison.

Many people gathered in front of the Swedish emassy and signed cards to be sent to him - we all hope to see him home soon.

He was arrested on the 15th June and charged with violent riot and sentanced to 1 year imprisonment. He has always denied the charges. The arresting police officer in court stated that Paul threw stonesoverarm, then witnessed him running away. Video footage contridicts this. Evey other officer says they did not see Paul act violently. He expecting a re-trial between the 25th and 26th September. Anyone who wants to send him a card or message in solidarity, the adress is:

Paul's trial takes place this Wednesday, the 12th September. The Swedish system is not the same as the English system where we have trial and appeal. Every person arrested is legally entitled to two separate trials. At the first trial (a week after actually) Paul was sentenced to one year's imprisonment for rolling a small stone two metres parallel to the police lines, not at them, which rolled harmlessly into the curb.

I am his UNISON representative at work and I will be in court to be a character witness as I was last time.

The demo outside the Swedish Embassy was the third since Paul was arrested, I hear that there have been other demos outside Swedish Consulates in England and Scotland for which we are very grateful.

Articles should (as long as nothing more important is deemed to have taken place to replace them) appear in the next issue of Private Eye (from Tuesday 11th) and in The Guardian on Wednesday 12th. The Guardian article is an interview he gave to Libby Brooks last Thursday when she managed to spend three hours with him after going through lots of hassles that the Remand Centre managed to put in front of her.

I have received e-mails from the US, Australia and, this morning, Taiwan, all of which are sympathetic to Paul's predicament and asking what they can do to help. They are all aware, as we are in the UK, that Paul has suffered an outrageous injustice and we are all hoping that, and I will be doing my best to ensure that that injustice is overturned.
