IMF Audio Project needs help

Dear All,

The New York City Ya-Basta Collective is developing a large-scale media
project for the upcoming IMF protests in DC, but we need some help urgently.
We are searching for voices from the global South and others who are most affected by the policies of the IMF, World Bank, and WTO.

Although many people in the U.S. can mobilize at these meetings to express their concern with these issues, there are billions of people across the globe who can not. Their testimony will be for the benefit of the political and corporate leadership that make decisions for all of us in closed meetings. It will also serve to inform people in this country to the other sides of globalization.

We need help finding these voices from across the globe (including those from within American cities or rural communities). We need recordings of individuals speaking about their own lives, families and environments and how they have been affected. We have no money for this project so we must count on the generosity of material from the Internet, radio programs, films, etc. We are hoping IMCistas and their allies will be able to send us material directly or at least point us in the best direction.

We are looking for audio bytes between 30 seconds and 5 minutes from a diverse group of people (we would like at least two dozen to work). We would prefer digital files such as MP3s, AIFF, Wavs, MPEGS etc but the quality really needs to be high. If you want to send an audio or videotape with good interviews, please contact us for an address. If the bytes are in languages other than English, a translation would be very appreciated. Our deadline for collecting material is September 20th. We will be happy to send everything back after we are finished.

Whatever you can do, it would be so appreciated by not only me but many many others. You also might just hear the results of your work on the streets of D.C. Let's hope that the people behind the fence and the police lines definitely do.

Thanks for your time and generosity. If you want to know more about the project, please send an email to  YaBaAudio@hotmail.com. To get more information about our collective go to  http://free.freespeech.org/yabasta/.

In Solidarity,

NYC Ya Basta Collective
