lucy was 15 when she went on the march with her ,mother in 1981,this is a video from the 20th anniversary of her memories.
On August the 27th 1981 world history was made in Cardiff when 36 women four babies in pushchairs and six men set off on their march to RAF Greenham Common Berkshire to protest about Thatchers decision to allow nuclear tipped American owned Cruise Missiles to be sited there.
All they asked for was a debate on TV with our government. This was refused so they stayed, living outdoors in all weathers until 2001. The empty base is now one of the few nuclear sites that have been returned to common use.
