Update on the Bilderberg article
IMC | 02.09.2001 18:55
The article on the Call to Arms against Bilderberg was removed because the address at the top underneath the headline lead to a rascist site.

This really is counterproductive and amounts to the very censorship and stifling of discussion/criticism that IMC was set up to stop.
It is also profoundly patronising to assume that people cannot make their own minds up about what views we should and shouldn't be expose to and totally against the IMC spirit.
I have been accused of Anti-Semitism with regard to my Bilderberg website in the past which I am not.
The US Anti Defamation League have been successfully sued for using this slur as 'a pot of black paint and a brush' to stifle legitimate criticism of one of the most powerful and secretive alliances of (almost exclusively non-Jewish) banking and business in the world.
I have a page all about this at http://www.bilderberg.org/jewish.htm

it was a mostly reasonable sounding text appended with the contact details of a number of fascist organisations. the text suggested that they were leading the charge against corporate capitalism and the bilderberg etc.
It was therefore perfectly sensible to withdraw it. There was no ostensible fascism in the text so nothing immediate to argue with - just a very dubious invitation at the bottom for people bothered about the bilderberg to link up with fascists.
It was also labelled 'a call to arms' which is probably highly improper for a news site like indymedia.
meanwhile, keep up the good work...

it would have been interesting to debate:
1) wether the opinion of the obviously right wing author
was really his opinion. or was he briefed by for example the intelligence services ?
2) the article appeared in may 2001 , just before a busy summer of protests , sweden , genoa ect .
3) who are the ELF, they are an international group thats for sure, they might be confused with the Earth Liberation front
who are close to ALF . i'd like to know more about who I am likely to be rubbing shoulders on the next protest I attend.
My opinion is that this article could partly prove that the groups mentioned , European Liberation Front, were in genoa and it is quite possible that they have links with the secret services of various countries . on the other hand it might not. By feeding this anti bilderberger article to an extreme right wing group the intelligence services would also be keeping alive the myth that anyone who talks about bilderberg is anti semetic and a fascist .
perhaps its time for an "adult indymedia" 4 people who want to want indepth discussion about hardcore issues.
