The level of camera surveillance tolerated in the UK is worse than anywhere in the world I know. There is almost no urban space which is not watched, recorded, analysed. We are all "players" for the surveillance cameras. In the land which once prided itself on its level of civil liberties, everything is being eroded in the names of "security" and "terrorism"

I've got nothing to hide either but I resent the ammount of money business customers and taxpayers pay for these bloody things. It is part of the British psyche that spying on each other is considered right and proper and the British don't like to question authority, even that as bogus as the camera. I spent an interesting if unfulfilling two weeks as a camera operator recently and my colleagues were more scary than the shoplifters we spied on. Let's look at the real causes of crime instead of spending a fortune on catching the poor, the sick and the stupid.
