Columbia Protest??

Suggesting action in London about Columbian war

Anyone know of any action planned about the US involvment in Columbia? Not only are they using an internal 'problem'(high levels of drug use) as a reason for an external war, their methods of warfare have been widely condemned as cruel and impractical. The spraying of chemicals onto the crops of native peoples is causing widespread illness, hunger and death....whilst US drug use continues to rise

Where is the Colombian Solidarity Campaign?

16.08.2001 14:44

There is/should be a Colombian Solidarity Campaign running in London. However, I've tried contacting them on a number of occasions to no avail. Obviously they are a clandestine movement! I am planning on launching a website for British activists interested in Colombia. I would like to hear from anyone who has any suggestions. Perhaps it's time for a more organised and rigorous UK campaign against the involvement of the US, EU and multi-national corporations in Colombia, which has undermined freedom of millions of Colombians. Who wants to campaign instead of talk?

I don't know if this is what you are looking for but here is a link to some information about the U'wa indigenous peoples in Columbia.

Colombia solidarity

I've been trying to stimulate some interest in Colombia over the last year or so without too much success.

I helped organise the Black Communities Process tour of Britain last March, in Manchester- where i live. There was a fair amount of interest from the people who came to the talks but I was and still am- at a loss as how to take it further. Atleast now there is more awareness due to all the media coverage and the fact that it is so unbelievable what's going on there.

It isn't as straight forward as getting colombians involved though. There are solidarity canpaigns such as "Collective Aginst US invasion" and CORAS a refugee support organisation has been active. (not clandestine)

But it's complicated.

Still I am very interested in doing something about it if you have energy and interest
