Old tickets work on the London Underground!!!

Contrary to popular belieief and what London Transport would like us all to believe travel on the London Underground can be completely free for everyone. For many years the ticket machines have been broken and except any old ticket! Any ticket(travelcard only im afraid) before around 1997 works, one day travelcard, one week, one month etc. This is not bullshit. I know many many people using old tickets. Only the very recent new ticket machines in very few zone 1 stations do not work. Great thing to know seeing as Londons Transport policy is so crap and extremely expensive. Find an old ticket and try it out. Itll be the best ticket youve ever had. Just never show it em or the pigs. They now whats goin on and obviously dont like it much. Aparently it was even on the news, only very briefly, a couple of years ago but they only admitted to 93 or 94 year old tickets working. They ALL work.
Fuck Fascist Transport Policies lets go for free.

Tickets over 998 days old will work. Do not show thm to anyone though;if you're stopped just say that you have no ticket. Just give a valid address, preferably not yours as there is no way of checking anything other than that the address exists. There is no right to demand proof of address. If Revenue Control inspectors in particular see you using an old ticket they will prosecute though.

Until we are provided with a fair and environmentaly constructive transport policy it is fair enough to cheat the system. For instance in Finland a ticket costs 60p and can be used on any form of city public transport - bus, train, underground, tram and even boat for an hour from purchase. Great. They even provide hundreds of bikes at many different location for anyone to use. Only a 1 pound deposit which you get back if you return it!!!
If the prices were fair we wouldnt mind paying.

idea for free tube

14.08.2001 15:02

the next time the RMT go on strike, it would be great if they had free tube days where instead of shutting it down they let people have tickets for free.

all of london would support them.

this was inspired by ya basta in italy, when they get hold of free trains.

nice idea, no?

still not convinced

like the free train/strike idea but I am still uneasy about ripping off public transport.

you say it is Ok until we have a decent & environmentally sustainable transport system. I am probably being a bit dense but what is so wrong with the tube? surely while it is still (just) publicly owned it should be supported.

also does that mean it's ok for me to nick someone's bike in the meantime as well?

the website you quoted for more info is no longer up - do you have an alternative web address, an email address for the person who put it up, or did you save the info and can send it to me??

Hope you see this, much appreciated
