Why the conflict?

07.08.2001 19:57

I consider myself a Marxist (of sorts, although I'm not really a Leninist), but I really don't understand this conflict between Marxism and anarchism. I know Marx himself had a problem with it, for fairly academic reasons. However, when I sit down and talk with an anarchist, I barely see much difference in our aims, ie the emancipation of those exploited by capitalism and the state which serves it. There might be differences in tactics or organisation, but this shouldn't bring Marxists and anarchists into confrontation with each other. There are many ways to fight a revolution.

CPGB

Many Marxists and anarchists have a lot in common, but the CPGB is the old pro-Soviet party. They're very authoritarian and opportunist, for example being involved in the Socialist Alliance. They really have no defining politics now their Moscow leadership has gone and are doing what most ex-revisionist parties around the world do - masquerade as social democrats and try to gain as many recruits as possible, with not much success. In short, these people have little to do with either anarchism or Marxism.

Migrants March

No anarchists on the migrants march in Genoa?]

:) Thats pretty strange, because from what I saw of it, most of the participants were anarchists.

Guess we were on different parts of the march.
