After the Genoa events from 14th-22nd of July this year, activists of association Globala and of Office for interventions are subjugated to increase police repression.
Namely, police claims that on the Friday, 27th of July, the Molotov cocktail was thrown on the Italian embassy in Ljubljana. Until know it is still unclear if there was any such object thrown on Italian embassy. An official at the embassy denied to the journalist of Radio Student that this happened. The other media could not get any answer from embassy officials. Supposed attack on the embassy was a pretext for the police to harass activists of Globala and OFI, that was in Genoa. On Sunday morning, 29th of July the police made a house search in the apartment of Darij Zadnikar and on the spot of Metelkova (independent cultural and political centre in Ljubljana). They said that they are searching for the burning liquid that was used in Supposed Molotov cocktail. Police tried to make the house search in the house of another activist, Andrej Kurnik, which wasn't in Ljubljana at that time. On the Thursday, 2nd July, the newspaper Delo published an article in which the supposed incident in front of the embassy was mentioned. In this article both activists were mentioned as suspects with full names and with the names of faculties they work for. The tendency of an article was personal, professional and political discreditation.
In this year the new communicative space emerged in Slovenia which is critical towards the political and juridical system that supports financial globalisation. Both activists that were subjected to police repression are very active in the organisation of resistance against the corporate globalisation in Slovenia. After Genoa they publicly explained facts about police brutality in Genoa. It is obvious an attempt of police to frighten all activists for globalisation of rights in Slovenia.
