Rational discussion is the order of the day.

The black bloc is a target for the state and reactionary elements because it is probably the most progressive element within 'the movement'.

Its status as an idea or an utterly non hierarchical disorganisation make it incomprehensible to the powers of the old world.

It leaves behind the theoretical arguments and takes its ideas on to the streets.

Capitalism will not be argued away.

By destroying commercial property the black bloc asserts that people are more important than property.

People see the burning banks and realise that anything is possible, the resistence is still alive and not everyone is obedient.

The actions of the brave black bloc comrades provide symbolic resistence in the name of the masses.

Its high time Civilians in the movement started listening to Black Bloc-I hate when some civilians by pass the rest and join the criminals"Tony Blair" on a cruiser- anyway who appointed them to speak for us?

how to resist better?

the solidarity after genoa had been great, and must continue, but i don't think it can be uncritical.

i understand but do not participate in black block activities. i just hope that participants in black bloc stuff can develop strategies to ensure that they don't get infiltrated and don't end up disrupting other modes of expression as unfortunately happened often in genoa. if black bloc organisation is as democratic as you say then this should be possible, though it may well be difficult. if we who choose other tactics can help in this (in any other way than all joining black bloc!) then please let us know.

and even if we can't help, i think there's a lot of people about who would feel more confident on going on mass actions where black bloc is represented if we had more idea of who is with you and what your/their priorities and general tactics are... so please keep us up to date as far as you can.

cheers

Another Black Block rumour

07.08.2001 19:42

Last night, I spoke to an Italian who votes Forza Italia and lives near Genoa. She claimed that the Black Block were mostly German neo-Nazis (oh the irony) and that police violence was simply the result of putting frightened inexperienced conscripts on the front line. Well, that's another (state-sponsored?) rumour to add to the list.
As I wasn't at Genoa, I can't explain who the Black Block are or what actually happened, beyond the subjective witness statements published here. But this rumour, which seems to be accepted and perpetuated by many of Berlusconi's supporters, does not sit easily with most witness statements.
It suggests that the state is trying to cover up the use of its own agents in the police force and those disguised as Black Block, as seen in video and photographic evidence. Maybe this is another paranoid conspiracy theory to dismiss, but it seems that the excuses of police incompetance and the neo-Nazi 'infiltration' stories could be a cover-up for a state paramilitary attack on the anti-capitalist movement. Please tell me I'm wrong ...
