White Overalls Movement Building Libertarian Effective Struggles

In spite of the indisputable vitality and veracity of anti-capitalist ideas, and the innumerable sacrifices and tireless devotion of diverse militants, on Mayday and in Genoa the cops gave us a good kicking. Since the liberation of humanity and creation of global freedom and equality is not to be stopped by a few thugs with big sticks, it is time to provide self-protection from the depredations of the constabulary.

A large white overall group, padded, helmeted, with breathing protection acting together in a non-hierarchical but self-disciplined way can achieve the following aims:

· to facilitate free movement and communication during protests
· to stop attacks on demonstrators such as baton charges, horse charges, CS gas and sprays
· be living examples of our libertarian solidarity, organisation and humour
· to promote mutual respect and protection among demonstrators

The white overall movement has no leadership; everyone involved participates equally in its organisation and actions.

CALLING ALL UNDERGROUND SISTERS! Our tactics are about co-operation not individual bravado. We don't compete for the best slot but stand together and think strategically. Besides, how can a small furry animal be macho? In terms of gender, violence as a universal force within the class struggle has been fetishized as the domain of young, white males. The mechanisms and apparatuses of patriarchal hegemony have gendered and sold confidence, privilege and promise to the extent that both men and women are debased of their full potential. The WOMBLES seek to crush the inherent patriarchy and misogyny of the state as the guardian, broker and policeman of the capitalist system.
OPEN MEETINGS are held to discuss the ideas, possible tactics and decision-making organised along open, non-hierarchical lines. We welcome like-minded people interested in developing ideas, tactics and objectives for effective direct action. BRISTOL WOMBLES promote radical ideas, libertarian solidarity, autonomous self-organisation and humour.
