Repeat of Davos Documentary

Auguste | 26.08.2001 13:27

For those of you who missed it on wednesday, Darcus Howe's documentary on Davos will be repeated late Sunday tonight /early Monday morning 03:45 (AM)

Until Pontecorvo's film of Genoa is completed, this may well be the definitive piece about anti-capitalist protest. The work has a certain filmic quality which I wasnt expecting, and could indeed be made into a film if you've a couple of Million to spare!
Critics have pointed out that there is comparatively little about the actions that did take place, but that, aesthetically, does not detract from it in my opinion. More distracting was a pointless banter Darcus had with one of his barrister colleagues from his old college days. Still, set the video recorder and see what you think.

I saw that documentary, and it is well worth watching. I didn't know much about Darcus Howe before this series, but i found him a fascinating and very likeable character. of even more interest is the treatment of peaceful protesters en route to Davos. the police tactics won't shock anyone here, but hopefully it gave some sleepy CH4 viewers a jolt!
