Mass NOISE demo/party - Italian Embassy SAT 28th

Pink n Silver | 26.07.2001 11:45

Celebration Demo 2pm on Saturday 28th July

There is a call to all anarchists, socialists, anti-capitalists, trade unionists and any one who wants change in our society to gather at 2pm outside the Italian embassy on Saturday 28th July.

Bring noise and colour (pink and silver maybe?) to celebrate release of the British prisoners (without charge) and protest the brutality of the Italian police, as well as calling for all of the other prisoners from Genoa to be released.

Also bring food, water and party kit inc decorations to transform any Section 60 into OUR space for celebration!

Bring as many people as possible, form affinity groups and come prepared for a long section 60 stay/party.

Outside the Italian embassy, 2pm, 14, Three Kings' Yard, London W1Y 2EH

The object is not to get Section 60'd

26.07.2001 13:28

I agree we should make Saturday as big as we can,
this means everyone who's coming please bring as
many people as possible, ring round your friends and
tell 'em to come down. But the idea is NOT to get
a section 60 {see www.wombleaction.mrnice.net for
legal info on Section 60}. It's good to keep looking
out where the police are, if you see police getting out of there vans at a fast pace then inform EVERYONE and
run where you can regroup with others. It's also
a good idea if people do other things aswell not neccessarily at the Embassy.

Another idea is for everyone bring potatoes and dump
them outside the embassy with the message "get
ready to eat potatoes" {pigs in Genoa said this to a number of people which meant, get ready to be beaten}

See you Saturday

potatoes are good....

Good idea with the potatoes - we could also do with giving the Italian Government back their stocks of lemons and vinegar; there must be a shortage in Genoa now!! Use your imagination and this could get very smelly!!

Grosvenor Square

I was at the demo outside the Italian Embassy on Monday. The police herded us into Brook's Mews, opposite the entrance to Three-Kings-Yard. (NB, Italian embassy is no 14; don't read the location as number 3 in Kings Yard!)
Easily contained, easily Section 60'd.

However, the Embassy backs on to Grosvenor Square - and waves a huge tricolor over it. Much larger, more comfortable, and with more exits, even if the police can still block it off & detain us within.

I also heard that a climate change demo is to be held outside the US embassy - at the other end of Grosvenor Sq - on Saturday.

Of course the idea is NOT to have Section 60

26.07.2001 14:52

...if they do section 60 people then make the best of it... that's all, be prepared :)

but...

Careful

I can't attend on Saturday (it's my wedding!), but good luck to everyone. Just look after yourselves and each other. Stay cool. Take plenty of water, protect yourselves from the sun and bring food - just in case you get Section 60'd. And just keep an eye on police movements and run if you have any doubts about getting surrounded or arrested.

burn it down

27.07.2001 11:49

I went to genova as a pacifist, what a wankeer standing around like a pratt waiting to get my head smashed in by a bunch of fascist thugs ... if it's ok for Tony Blair that's
fine, we can expect similar horrors in the UK .
If we don't fight our lives are not going to be worth living.

never mind the black bloc let's do it properly !!!

violence? yeah, sure... that's exactly what they're waiting for.

but, hey, I'm just "one who can't stand the heat", hence a coward, a wanker, as one of these... macho heroes would called me!

fuck me, what a waste!

I'm going

28.07.2001 01:26

I'm definitely going.

We have to show the italian embassy that this sort of violence by police is never acceptable.

If we settle for nothing now, we'll settle for nothing later...

All the best and keep up the pressure !

Me :-)

what's coming next?

28.07.2001 21:49

hey... we shouldn't stop this movement now. A lot of people aren't released yet and the violation of (human) rights doesn't take an end.

Are there no more demonstrations, solidarity actions, dicussions etc... planned in the next week??

RE: What next ?

Write to every newspaper and politician you can think of. Write to anyone in the public who can put pressure on the government. Saturdays's demo was reported on the BBC evening news. Keep it up and don't let it go away.
